Fintech SEO Case Study: Recovering a 50% Traffic Drop to 400K+ Monthly Visits
An Indian stock-recommendation and trading platform lost about half its organic traffic in five months. The cause was two buried technical faults, not weak content. Over 16 months, fixing them and building programmatic stock pages took traffic to 403K visits a month.

A traffic slide nobody had diagnosed
The client runs a stock-recommendation and discount trading platform in India. Organic traffic had been sliding since mid-2024. By the time the engagement began in October 2024, it was down roughly 50% from its pre-decline peak, and nobody had traced the cause.
Authority Score had also been stuck in a narrow band for well over a year: 51 in May 2024, 48 in June, 49 in July. It was still 51 in October 2025.
Two technical faults explained most of the drop
| Fault | What was wrong | Why it mattered |
|---|---|---|
| Hidden footer | Site-wide internal links sat in a footer crawlers could not see. | It cut the main internal-linking channel into the stock, sector and category pages that a broking site depends on. |
| Wrong redirects | Temporary 302 redirects sat where permanent 301s belonged. | Link equity never consolidated onto the right URLs. On a site built on thousands of ticker pages, that is a slow bleed. |
The site also had no news vertical and no pages built for high-intent queries like gold and silver rates.
Six moves, in order
Fix the plumbing first
The footer and redirect faults were resolved before any content work. New pages on a leaking link structure would have underperformed whatever their quality.
Launch a news section
Live in December 2024. Market content has a short shelf life, so a news vertical gives Google a reason to recrawl often and opens a path into Google News.
Build a hub-and-spoke blog
Informational content organized around pillar pages with spoke articles linking back, instead of disconnected posts.
Ship gold and silver rate pages
High-volume, high-intent queries with no dedicated pages. Gold went live in November 2025 and silver in December 2025.
Scale stocks, indices, sectors and categories
Programmatic optimization across hundreds of listed-company pages. The site now ranks in the top 15 for ticker, share-price and IPO GMP queries.
Earn authority through media mentions
Mentions across reference and media domains supported the Authority Score climb alongside the on-site work.

| Referring domains / backlinks | not recorded | 2.1K / 16.7K |
| AI platform responses | not tracked | 6.3K |
| Commercial-intent traffic (Jul 2024 to Feb 2026) | 91,735 | 201,033 (+119%) |
| Informational-intent traffic (Jul 2024 to Feb 2026) | 267,732 | 372,741 (+39%) |
| Gold-rates page (about 3 months old at close) | 0 | 53.2K clicks, position 9.1 |
| Silver-rates page (about 2 months old at close) | 0 | 47.2K clicks, position 8.5 |
Traffic figures come from an SEO toolkit estimate and Search Console. The monthly trend is read from a graph, so treat it as directional rather than an exact export.

The trade-off this build did not manage
Navigational traffic fell 50% and transactional-intent traffic fell 60% between July 2024 and February 2026, even as informational and commercial traffic grew. The programmatic stock build did its job, but it likely pulled internal link equity away from the core transactional and navigational pages. That split never had its own tracked target.
A site this dependent on programmatic long-tail content needs an internal-linking plan that protects its conversion pages, not only one that feeds the blog hubs.
The “flat Authority Score” story also rests on two verified points fifteen months apart: 49 in July 2024 and 51 in October 2025. That suggests a flat period but does not prove it. A tracked monthly baseline from day one would have settled it.
What people ask about this project
How long does SEO recovery take after a technical traffic drop?
In this case traffic bottomed out in December 2024 to January 2025, about three months after the fixes began. It then climbed through 2025 as new sections shipped. Your timeline depends on the fault and the size of the site.
Does programmatic SEO work for financial sites?
Here it did. The site ranks in the top 15 for ticker and share-price queries across hundreds of pages. It also cost some navigational and transactional traffic, which is reported above.
What caused the original traffic drop?
Two technical faults: a footer hidden from crawlers that cut internal linking, and 302 redirects where 301s belonged, so link equity never consolidated.
Is the client named?
No. The client asked to stay anonymous, so no name or URL is shown.
