E-commerce SEO Consultant: Organic Sales, Not Just Traffic

I'm Mansoor Bhanpurawala. I've done SEO since 2014. E-commerce SEO connects category and product pages to the searches that end in a sale. I work on owned stores (Shopify, WooCommerce, Magento and custom builds) and I treat marketplace SEO as a different skill.

Quick answer: e-commerce SEO gets an online store found for searches that lead to purchases: category and product page optimization, filter and URL control, structured data, buying guides, speed, feeds and measurement of organic revenue. Owned-store SEO and marketplace SEO (Amazon, Flipkart, Myntra) are different skill sets.

What e-commerce SEO covers

Nine parts. Each one ties to revenue.

I do this work myself. For scope and cost, message me on WhatsApp or call +91 90331 72192. I quote after I see your catalog.

Category architecture

Categories carry the head terms and most of the money.

  • Category tree built from how shoppers search
  • Merging and splitting categories by demand
  • Breadcrumbs and internal links
  • Category copy with real buying help
  • Cannibalization checks between categories and products
  • Sitemap and navigation alignment
You will see: category clicks and impressions.

Product pages

Pages that rank and sell.

  • Titles and descriptions written from search and buyer questions
  • Specs, sizing, materials and use cases
  • Images and video with descriptive names
  • Reviews and ratings shown and marked up
  • Shipping, returns and stock status visible
  • Variants handled without duplicate URLs
You will see: product clicks and conversion rate.

Faceted navigation and filters

Filters create thousands of URLs.

  • Which filter combinations deserve an indexable page
  • Canonical, noindex and robots rules per pattern
  • Parameter handling and sort orders
  • Internal link paths to valuable filtered pages
  • Crawl stats review
  • Pagination without orphaned products
You will see: cleaner index and crawl.

Structured data and feeds

Machine-readable product data.

  • Product, Offer, AggregateRating, MerchantReturnPolicy, BreadcrumbList, Organization
  • Merchant Center diagnostics and free listings
  • GTIN, brand, color, size and material completeness
  • Consistency between page, schema and feed
  • Rich Results Test and Search Console reports

You will see: valid items and product impressions.

Buying guides and content

Reach shoppers before they choose.

  • Guides, comparisons and best-of pages that link to categories
  • Question content from People Also Ask
  • Sizing, care and how-to pages
  • Author and reviewer details
  • Refresh plan
  • Video where it helps
You will see: non-branded clicks and assisted sales.

Technical health and speed

Slow stores lose sales twice.

  • Crawl and index review
  • Core Web Vitals from field data by template
  • Image formats and sizes
  • JavaScript and app weight
  • Redirects and migrations

AI shopping and answer visibility

Shoppers ask AI tools too.

  • Product data complete enough for AI shopping answers
  • Answer-first sections on category and guide pages
  • Reviews and third-party mentions
  • AI referral tracking in GA4
  • Prompt tests across engines
  • Brand facts corrected where wrong

  • Assisted conversions
  • Monthly revenue report
  • Tests on titles, copy and trust elements
You will see: organic revenue and revenue per session.
How an e-commerce SEO project runs

Seven steps from audit to monthly revenue report.

Revenue pages go first. Everything else waits.

1. Access and goals

Search Console, GA4 with e-commerce data, platform access, Merchant Center. We agree what a sale is worth.

Output: Access list and goals

2. Crawl and revenue map

Full crawl joined with Search Console and GA4 so each URL has clicks and revenue next to it.

Output: URL revenue map

3. Diagnose by template

Home, category, filtered, product, blog and utility templates.

Output: Issue list by template

4. Rank by revenue impact

Fixes ranked by revenue carried and effort.

Output: Ranked audit

5. Build and fix

Category and product rewrites, filter rules, schema, speed, guides.

Output: Change sheets and drafts

6. Release check

Re-crawl and URL Inspection on samples after each release.

Output: Pass or fail per change

7. Monthly report

Clicks, revenue, top pages and next steps.

Output: Monthly report

How I measureSearch Console, GA4Prompt tests, AI referrals, branded search

In September 2026, Google AI Overview showed for four of four "ecommerce seo consultant" phrasings I tested. See my GEO page.

What I see go wrong

Eight e-commerce SEO mistakes.

Treating owned stores and marketplaces as one job

Shopify, WooCommerce and Magento SEO follows Google. Amazon, Flipkart and Myntra SEO follows each marketplace's own ranking system. They are two different skill sets that share a search term.

Deleting products without a traffic check

A catalog cleanup cost one client 23% of clicks in a month. Check clicks, links and rankings first.

Indexing every filter combination

Thin, near-duplicate URLs waste crawl and dilute signals.

Manufacturer copy on product pages

Copying supplier descriptions gives Google no reason to prefer you.

Category pages with only a grid

Add buying help, links and context.

Duplicate schema from apps and plugins

Keep one source of truth for product markup.

Measuring visits, not revenue

Organic traffic that does not buy is a cost. Track organic revenue.

Trusting a "best" label

In my September 2026 tests, Google AI Overview and Bing Copilot named different agencies for "best ecommerce SEO consultant", and Google AI Mode named a third set. Ask for proof, not a ranking screenshot.

Revenue is not on these charts.

Search Console measures clicks and impressions. The jewellery retailer's revenue was not part of the data I could share, and the B2B manufacturer's sales figures come from the client and are not backed by a store export yet. I will add revenue exports when clients approve them.

Each chart draws the confirmed start and end values from Search Console as bars. They are not daily data and show no curve in between. Exact monthly values come from the CSV exports. Search Console measures clicks and impressions, not revenue. Each property had several kinds of work running at once, so no chart isolates one service. Client names are withheld at their request. Screenshots available on a call.

Case studies

Store and catalog cases, including a mistake.

Each started with a crawl joined to Search Console data.

E-commerce

A UK jewellery retailer in AI answers

Found: an e-commerce store selling to the UK.

Did: site speed, schema, Merchant Center feed, buying guides.

Result: 65,500 AI Overview impressions in three months, 117K AI-feature impressions in the UK against 1.78K in the US.

What went wrong: impression counts are visibility, not sales. Revenue was not part of the data I could share.
B2B manufacturing

A manufacturer that needed export buyers

Found: 82% of clicks came from India. The business sells only abroad.

Did: rebuilt product pages, MOQ-led content, schema, llms.txt.

Result: 16 to 22 inquiries in six months, about half from GCC and tier-1 buyers.

What went wrong: a catalog cleanup without a traffic check cost 23% of clicks in one month.
Fintech

An Indian platform that lost half its traffic

Found: a footer hidden from crawlers and 302 redirects where 301s belonged.

Did: fixed both first, then a news section, hub-and-spoke blog, gold and silver rate pages, programmatic stock pages.

Result: Gold-rates page reached 53.2K clicks in about 3 months and silver-rates 47.2K in about 2.

What went wrong: navigational traffic fell 50% and transactional 60% as link equity moved to programmatic pages.
How long it takes

Timelines from my own projects.

Nobody can promise a date. These ranges come from my own projects.

Weeks

Index and filters

Filter, redirect and canonical fixes can show in Search Console within weeks.

About 28 days

Core Web Vitals

Field data updates on a rolling 28-day window.

3 months

AI features

A UK jewellery retailer reached 65,500 AI Overview impressions in three months.

About 6 months

Leads and sales

A B2B manufacturer went from one inquiry a quarter to 16 to 22 in six months.

Competitive categories usually take four to six months. Your timeline depends on competition and the state of your store.

ROI and KPIs

I tie work to organic revenue.

Organic revenue

GA4 revenue from organic search.

Transactions

Orders from organic traffic.

Revenue per session

Organic quality, not only volume.

Category and product clicks

Search Console clicks by page type.

Index health

Valid pages, duplicates and excluded URLs.

If a KPI does not move, I say so and change the plan. I will not hide behind "rankings improved."

What it costs

Five things decide the price.

I do not publish a price list, because the same budget buys different work depending on these factors. Message me on WhatsApp or call +91 90331 72192. I quote after I see your site.

Catalog size

Fifty products and fifty thousand are different jobs.

Platform

Each platform has its own limits and fixes.

Competition

Crowded categories need more content and links.

Markets

More countries add scope.

Catalog and channel count

Get these in writing before a quote. Marketplaces are scoped separately.

Consultant, agency or freelancer

Which one fits e-commerce SEO?

Who does the workThe person you talk to. I do the store audit, category work and measurement myself.A team, with an account manager as your contact. One person, often alongside a job or other clients.
AccountabilityOne person owns the strategy and the result.Shared across a team and an account manager.Owns the task, often not the outcome.
Speed of decisionsSame day. No approval chain.Passes through account manager, strategist and executor.Fast, but limited to the brief.
ReportingMonthly from Search Console and GA4, written by me.Dashboard plus a call with the account manager.Varies from none to a spreadsheet.
What you pay forExpert time.Expert time plus management and overhead.Task time. Quality varies the most.

A store needs someone who knows platforms, catalogs and revenue data. One person holding all three beats a hand-off chain.

Who this is for

  • You run an owned online store with a real catalog.
  • Organic traffic is flat or your revenue per session is low.
  • You plan a migration or a new platform.
  • You sell in more than one country.

Who I am not the right fit for

  • You want a guaranteed number one ranking in 30 days. Nobody controls Google.
  • You want 500 cheap directory links. They no longer help.
  • You need full-scope SEO on a very small budget. Start with my free SEO tools.
  • You want Amazon or Flipkart listing optimisation only. That is a different skill set.

FAQ

Questions people ask

What does an e-commerce SEO consultant do?

An e-commerce SEO consultant audits your store, fixes crawl and index issues, rebuilds category and product pages, controls filters, adds structured data, builds buying guides and tracks organic revenue.

How is e-commerce SEO different from regular SEO?

Stores have thousands of similar pages, filters that create duplicate URLs, stock changes and product feeds. The work is part content, part technical and tied to revenue.

Do you work on Shopify and WooCommerce?

Yes. See my Shopify SEO and WooCommerce SEO pages for platform detail.

Do you do Amazon or Flipkart SEO?

That is marketplace SEO, a different skill set. I scope it separately and only on request. This page covers owned stores.

How long does e-commerce SEO take?

Index and filter fixes can show within weeks. Competitive categories usually take four to six months.

Should I delete old products?

Not before checking clicks, links and rankings. Redirect or keep pages that still carry value. A catalog cleanup without a check cost one client 23% of clicks in a month.

How do you handle filters and faceted navigation?

I decide per URL pattern whether to canonical, noindex or block, and index only combinations with real search demand.

What schema does a store need?

Product, Offer, AggregateRating where real, BreadcrumbList, Organization and return and shipping information where supported. Markup must match the page and the feed.

Can SEO help with AI shopping answers?

Yes. Complete product data, valid schema, reviews and clear answers help. See my GEO page.

Who is the best e-commerce SEO consultant?

AI answers vary. In my September 2026 tests, Google AI Overview, Bing Copilot and Google AI Mode each named different agencies and consultants. Judge by proof: client data, who does the work and what they refuse to promise.

How do you measure success?

Organic revenue, transactions and revenue per session from GA4, plus clicks and impressions by page type from Search Console.

What do you need to start?

Your store URL, Search Console and GA4 access, platform access without owner credentials and your top competitors.

Send your store URL. I'll show you where sales leak.
