Off-Page SEO Consultant: Links and Mentions That Earn Trust

I'm Mansoor Bhanpurawala. I've done SEO since 2012. Off-page SEO is how the rest of the web vouches for you: backlinks, digital PR, brand mentions and a consistent entity across the web. I focus on relevance and quality, not link counts.

Quick answer: off-page SEO builds the signals outside your website that tell search engines and AI systems your brand is real and trusted: relevant backlinks, press coverage, brand mentions, listings and consistent entity information. I audit your links and your competitors', then earn placements that fit your market.

Who is behind this page

14 years. 600+ clients. Authority I can show.

DA 30 to 52

Domain authority for a finance brand after two years of digital PR. Visits grew from 50K to 250K.

51 to 54

Authority Score for an Indian fintech platform, after about 15 months stuck between 48 and 51. 2.1K referring domains.

47.2K

Clicks to the silver-rates page of the same platform in about 2 months, from technical, content and authority work together.

5 listings

Directory listings I placed for an accounting SaaS that grew from 0 to 445 non-branded clicks in four months.

0 paid links

I do not buy links. Google treats link buying as spam, and I will not risk your site.

600+

Clients since 2012, across fintech, SaaS, healthcare, home services, jewellery, education and B2B.

I started in SEO in 2012 and went fully independent in 2020. I hold the Google Analytics (GA4) certification and the Microsoft Advertising Certified Professional credential. Read the full story on my About page.

What off-page SEO covers

Eight kinds of work. All of them earned, none bought.

I do this work myself. For scope and cost, message me on WhatsApp or call +91 90331 72192. I quote after I see your backlink profile.

Backlink audit

Where you stand, and who is better placed.

  • Your profile and your top three competitors compared
  • Referring domains by relevance, traffic and link type
  • Anchor text mix and over-optimization
  • Lost and broken links to reclaim
  • Toxic and spam patterns reviewed
  • Disavow only when a real problem exists
You will see: a gap report with ranked targets.

Link gap and target list

Sites that link to rivals but not to you.

  • Gap analysis across three to five competitors
  • Target scoring: relevance, traffic, editorial standards, link position
  • Contact notes and angle per target
  • Sites to avoid
  • Realistic monthly volume
  • Tracking sheet with status
You will see: a scored target list.

Digital PR

  • Expert quotes and commentary
  • Original data and survey angles
  • Press releases where there is real news
  • Founder and brand story pitches

You will see: placements, referring domains, branded searches.

Guest articles and contributed content

Editorial placements on relevant sites.

  • Topic ideas that suit the host site
  • Drafts with real expertise, not recycled copy
  • Author bio with entity links
  • Contextual links only where editors allow
  • No paid placement disclosed as editorial
  • Quality bar per host
You will see: published articles with live links.

Brand mentions and unlinked mentions

Mentions help even without a link.

  • Alert setup for brand and founder names
  • Reclaiming unlinked mentions
  • Mentions in lists, roundups and comparisons
  • Podcasts, interviews and events
  • Wikipedia and Wikidata checks for eligibility, never forced edits
  • Review sites and communities

  • Profile consistency: name, address, phone, description
  • Business, founder and product profiles
  • sameAs links on your site
  • Review platforms
  • Skip low-value directory blasts
You will see: consistent entity data across the web.

Entity and E-E-A-T signals

Make the brand and the people behind it checkable.

  • Organization and Person schema with sameAs
  • Author pages with credentials
  • Third-party profiles that confirm claims
  • Awards, certifications and associations
  • Knowledge panel checks
  • Brand name consistency
You will see: brand search growth and cleaner panels.

Link protection and cleanup

Keep what you earn.

  • Monitoring for lost links
  • Redirect fixes for pages with links
  • Competitor link alerts
  • Negative SEO checks
  • Link velocity sanity
  • Quarterly review
You will see: stable referring domains.
How an off-page project runs

Six steps, with a review every month.

Links follow content worth linking to. If a page has nothing to cite, I fix that first.

1. Audit and benchmark

Backlink profile, anchor mix, referring domains and brand search for you and three competitors.

Output: Benchmark report

2. Find link-worthy assets

Which pages, tools, data or case studies deserve links? If none, we build them.

Output: Asset list

3. Build the target list

Score sites for relevance, audience and editorial standards. Strike weak ones.

Output: Scored target list

4. Outreach and PR

Personalised pitches, expert comments, contributed articles and press releases. No mass emails.

Output: Pitches sent and replies logged

5. Verify every link

I check each placement: live, indexed, link attributes, anchor and context.

Output: Verified link log

6. Report and adjust

Monthly: new referring domains, branded search, clicks to linked pages, what to do next.

Output: Monthly report
The link quality checklist

26 questions I ask before a link is worth earning.

One good link beats twenty weak ones. I apply this list to every target.

Relevance
  • Does the site cover your topic?
  • Would your customer read it?
  • Is the page about the topic of the link?
  • Does the site serve your country or language?
  • Is the page ranking for anything?
Editorial quality
  • Do real editors review posts?
  • Is the content original?
  • Does the site avoid sponsored-post farms?
  • Are outbound links varied and sensible?
  • Is the site updated?
Link position
  • Is the link inside the body?
  • Is the anchor natural?
  • Is the link followed, sponsored or nofollow?
  • Will the page stay live?
  • Is the page indexed?
Risk
  • No pay-to-publish footprint
  • No sudden spikes in link velocity
  • No exact-match anchor overload
  • No private blog network pattern
  • No irrelevant foreign-language spam
  • Link bought? Then skip.
Brand value
  • Does the mention help trust?
  • Will AI tools and journalists see it?
  • Can I tell the client what it did?
  • Does it fit the brand?
  • Can it be tracked in branded search?
What I will and will not do

Written plainly so there are no surprises.

I will

  • Audit your links against rivals
  • Pitch editors with real stories and data
  • Write contributed articles that carry your expertise
  • Verify every placement
  • Report in Search Console and branded search

I will not

  • Buy links or run a private blog network
  • Promise a number of links a month
  • Place spam comments or forum links
  • Fake reviews or awards
  • Edit Wikipedia to promote you

What you might see

  • Referring domains rising in relevant clusters
  • Branded searches growing
  • Authority scores moving, as a side effect
  • Clicks rising on the pages that earned links
  • Honest reports when a month underdelivers
What I see go wrong

Eight off-page mistakes that waste money.

Buying links

Paid links that pass ranking signals break Google policy. Penalties and silent devaluation are both real.

Counting links, not relevance

A hundred links from unrelated sites do less than five from your industry.

Over-optimised anchors

Every link saying "best SEO consultant" looks engineered. Brand and natural anchors dominate real profiles.

Directory blasts

Hundreds of low-value listings no longer help. Use the few that customers or editors actually use.

Outreach with nothing worth linking to

Pitching a thin service page fails. Build the data, tool or story first.

Ignoring brand mentions

Unlinked mentions and branded search growth help trust and AI visibility even without a link.

No verification

Links go missing or get nofollowed. I check every placement.

Trusting vendor scores alone

Domain authority and Authority Score are vendor metrics, not Google signals. I read them next to clicks and rankings.

What I use for this

Tools for off-page work

Ahrefs and Semrush show links. Search Console proves whether they mattered.

Authority proof

Authority work, shown in numbers.

These are client properties I worked on personally. Figures come from vendor tools, Google Search Console or the client. Clients agreed to show the data and asked me to keep their names out.

4 months. 52,300 impressions. The site had 3,980 clicks a quarter and none were non-branded.
What I did: non-branded content, use-case pages, two free calculators, a comparison page and five directory listings.

A limit on this proof.

Media placements for the fintech platform exist as a list of domains, and I have not verified each placement page by page. I do not show them publicly until I have. Ask on a call and I will show what I can verify.

Each chart draws the confirmed start and end values from Search Console as bars. They are not daily data and show no curve in between. Exact monthly values come from the CSV exports. Search Console measures clicks and impressions, not revenue. Each property had several kinds of work running at once, so no chart isolates one service. Client names are withheld at their request. Screenshots available on a call.

Case studies

Authority work in three businesses.

Links were one lever among several in each case.

Finance brand

A finance brand that needed authority

Found: a finance brand with domain authority of 30.

Did: digital PR over two years.

Result: Domain authority 30 to 52. Traffic 50K to 250K visits.

What went wrong: authority scores are a vendor metric. I report them next to clicks, never instead of them.
Fintech

An Indian platform that lost half its traffic

Found: a footer hidden from crawlers and 302 redirects where 301s belonged.

Did: fixed both first, then a news section, hub-and-spoke blog, gold and silver rate pages, programmatic stock pages.

Result: Gold-rates page reached 53.2K clicks in about 3 months and silver-rates 47.2K in about 2.

What went wrong: navigational traffic fell 50% and transactional 60% as link equity moved to programmatic pages.
SaaS

An accounting SaaS with the wrong traffic

Found: 3,980 clicks a quarter, zero non-branded.

Did: non-branded content, use-case pages, two free calculators, a comparison page, five directory listings.

Result: 0 to 445 non-branded clicks, 52,300 impressions, 104 AI-assistant visits.

What went wrong: branded clicks fell 31% and signups were never tracked.
How long it takes

Timelines from my own projects.

Nobody can promise a date. These ranges come from my own projects.

2 to 4 weeks

Audit and plan

The benchmark and target list come first.

2 to 3 months

First placements

Good outreach takes weeks per placement. I do not promise volume.

6 to 12 months

Visible authority

Authority scores and branded search move slowly.

2 years

Compounding

The finance brand moved from DA 30 to 52 over two years.

Link building is slow on purpose. Fast results usually mean risky ones.

ROI and KPIs

I report on trust signals and the clicks they feed.

Referring domains

New, relevant domains linking to you.

Link quality mix

Share of links from relevant, editorial sources.

Branded search

Branded impressions and clicks in Search Console.

Clicks to linked pages

Traffic growth on the pages that earned links.

Mentions and AI citations

Brand mentions in press and AI answers.

If a KPI does not move, I say so and change the plan. I will not hide behind "rankings improved."

What it costs

Five things decide the price.

I do not publish a price list, because the same budget buys different work depending on these factors. Message me on WhatsApp or call +91 90331 72192. I quote after I see your site.

Competition

Linking in finance and in a local trade cost very different effort.

Assets you have

A data study earns links. A thin page does not.

Digital PR depth

Press releases cost less than original research campaigns.

Geography

Local, national or global targets change the list.

Monthly or project

A one-off audit costs less than ongoing outreach.

Consultant, agency or freelancer

Which one fits link building?

Who does the workThe person you talk to. I do the outreach and link vetting myself.A team, with an account manager as your contact. One person, often alongside a job or other clients.
AccountabilityOne person owns the strategy and the result.Shared across a team and an account manager.Owns the task, often not the outcome.
Speed of decisionsSame day. No approval chain.Passes through account manager, strategist and executor.Fast, but limited to the brief.
ReportingMonthly from Search Console and GA4, written by me.Dashboard plus a call with the account manager.Varies from none to a spreadsheet.
What you pay forExpert time.Expert time plus management and overhead.Task time. Quality varies the most.
Link riskI vet every placement personally.Often mixed with outsourced vendors.Often bought in bulk with no vetting.

Outreach lives on relationships and judgement. A single accountable person protects your site from careless placements.

Who this is for

  • Your content is good but rivals outrank you with stronger links.
  • You need authority in a YMYL topic.
  • You want press coverage for a launch or study.
  • You want your brand named by AI tools.

Who I am not the right fit for

  • You want a guaranteed number one ranking in 30 days. Nobody controls Google.
  • You want 500 cheap directory links. They no longer help.
  • You need full-scope SEO on a very small budget. Start with my free SEO tools.
  • You want a fixed number of links a month at any price.

FAQ

Questions people ask

What is off-page SEO?

Off-page SEO covers actions outside your website that affect search visibility: backlinks, digital PR, brand mentions, listings and entity signals. It tells search engines and AI systems that others trust your brand.

What is the difference between on-page and off-page SEO?

On-page SEO changes what is on your site: content, titles, structure and links. Off-page SEO builds signals elsewhere on the web. You need both.

Do backlinks still matter for rankings?

Yes. Links from relevant, trusted sites remain a major signal. Quality and relevance matter far more than count.

How many backlinks do I need?

There is no number. I compare your referring domains with the top results for your target queries and aim to close the relevance gap, not hit a quota.

Do you buy backlinks?

No. Buying links that pass ranking signals breaks Google spam policy. Every placement I build is earned through outreach, PR or real content.

What is digital PR?

Digital PR earns press coverage and links by giving journalists and editors something worth publishing: data, expert comment, a launch or a story. It builds links and brand mentions together.

How long does link building take?

Expect weeks per placement and months for visible change. The finance brand moved from DA 30 to 52 over two years.

Are nofollow links worthless?

No. They still bring referral visits, mentions and brand visibility, and Google treats them as hints. A natural profile has a mix.

Is domain authority a Google metric?

No. It is a vendor score from tools such as Moz, Ahrefs or Semrush. I use it to compare, never as proof by itself.

Should I disavow links?

Rarely. Google ignores most spam links. I disavow only when there is a manual action or a clear paid or spam pattern you created.

Can links help me appear in AI answers?

Brand mentions and citations on trusted sites help AI systems recognise your brand. No tool can guarantee a citation. See my GEO page.

What do you need to start?

Your URL, your top three competitors, your best pages and any past link building history.

Send your URL. I'll show you where your links fall short.
