XML Sitemap Generator
Paste a list of URLs, one per line. The tool cleans the list, flags problems and builds a valid sitemap.xml you can download or copy. It does not crawl your site, so you control exactly which pages go in.
How this tool works
How to use it
- List the canonical, indexable pages you want in the sitemap. One URL per line.
- Set a base URL if you want to paste relative paths such as /about/.
- Choose whether to include lastmod, changefreq and priority.
- Copy or download the XML and upload it to your site root as sitemap.xml.
- Add the Sitemap line to robots.txt and submit the URL in Google Search Console.
What belongs in a sitemap
- Pages that return 200, are canonical and can be indexed.
- Leave out redirects, 404s, noindex pages, parameter URLs and duplicates.
About lastmod, changefreq and priority
Google has said it ignores changefreq and priority. It uses lastmod only if the dates are consistently accurate. If you cannot keep lastmod accurate, leave it out. The default here leaves all three out.
Limits
One sitemap file can hold 50,000 URLs and 50 MB uncompressed. Larger sites need several sitemaps and a sitemap index. All URLs in a sitemap should sit on the same host as the sitemap file.
WordPress sites
Most SEO plugins and WordPress itself already create a sitemap automatically. Use this tool when you have a static site, a custom build or a one-off list.

Common questions
What is an XML sitemap?
An XML sitemap is a file that lists the URLs you want search engines to crawl. It helps them find pages, especially on new or large sites.
Does Google use priority and changefreq?
Google has stated it ignores both. Only lastmod can help, and only when it is accurate.
How many URLs can one sitemap have?
Up to 50,000 URLs and 50 MB uncompressed. Split larger lists into several sitemaps with a sitemap index.
Where do I put sitemap.xml?
Upload it to the root of your site, for example https://example.com/sitemap.xml, then submit it in Google Search Console and reference it in robots.txt.
Does this tool crawl my website?
No. It builds the file from the URLs you paste, so nothing is fetched and nothing leaves your browser.
