Patients search by symptom, specialty, insurance and "near me". For a healthcare organisation, the work is keeping hundreds of facts correct across many locations and pages, without breaking privacy rules.
You run several sites, departments or specialties, and need consistent location data, service pages and provider profiles.
Health sites handle patient information. I will not set up tracking your compliance counsel has not approved.
I have worked on a freestanding 24/7 emergency room (Express ER), where wrong hours or a missing phone number loses the visit. The same discipline applies to groups: one source of truth for location data, one clear page per service, and named clinical reviewers on medical content.

Google holds health content to a higher standard. Its guidance says pages on topics that affect wellbeing should be accurate and consistent with expert consensus, and that trust is the most important part of E-E-A-T. A service page written by a generalist and never reviewed by a clinician is weak and risky.
For organisations the biggest ranking losses are usually boring: three phone numbers for one clinic, closed locations still live on Google, doctors listed at the wrong site. Fixing data often beats writing new content.
Privacy is the second constraint. In June 2024 a US federal court in Texas vacated a key part of HHS's online-tracking bulletin, and HHS withdrew its appeal that August. That does not make tracking safe on every page. Your compliance counsel should approve any analytics, pixel or form tool before it runs on patient-facing pages.
The table lists the main workstreams for a provider group.
| Area | What I check | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Location data | Names, addresses, phones and hours across site, Google and directories | Wrong data sends patients elsewhere |
| Service pages | One page per service per location where it makes sense | Matches condition and service searches |
| Provider profiles | Credentials, specialties, location, booking link | Patients check the clinician before booking |
| Clinical review | Named reviewer and review date on medical pages | Expertise signal for health content |
| Tracking | Approved tools only, no patient data in analytics | Keeps measurement inside privacy limits |
Five parts. Each produces something your team can check.
Build one master sheet of every location, department and provider, then compare it with what the web shows. Fix the gaps.
Decide which service pages, location pages and condition pages exist, and how they link to each other.
Set rules for clinical review, dates, sources and plain-language writing so pages stay consistent as your team grows.
Structure profiles for sites and departments, set categories and services, and handle duplicates and closed listings.
Report calls, appointment requests and directions by page, within the tracking limits your counsel approves.
People ask AI tools "what does a cardiologist treat" or "urgent care or ER for a deep cut". Answer engines favour pages that state facts plainly and show who wrote and reviewed them. I structure pages answer-first, with named reviewers and FAQ sections.
I do not write clinical content myself. Your clinicians supply or approve it. I handle structure, data, markup and measurement.
Clinical wording is your clinicians' call. Tracking choices need your compliance counsel.
