Industrial buyers search by product, material, standard and quantity. They want specs, certifications and a way to request a quote. A catalog page with a photo and a phone number rarely wins that search.
You make or supply defined products, can state specs, standards and MOQ, and want RFQ leads from the right countries.
Buyers and Google both check who is behind the site. Anonymous catalogs with no company details are hard to rank and harder to trust.
I worked with an India-based exporter of industrial protective workwear. Before the work they got about one inquiry every three to four months, all local. Six months in, the client reports 16 to 22 form and WhatsApp inquiries, roughly half from export markets. The case study also records a catalog cleanup I ran without a traffic check that cut clicks.

A procurement manager searches "FR coverall EN 11612 manufacturer" or "stainless steel flanges supplier", not "best flange company". Pages need to state material, standard, size range, MOQ, packaging and lead time where the buyer can see them.
Traffic mix matters more than traffic volume. In the client case above, the site had clicks, but most came from India, while the business sold to export markets. Counting visitors without checking country and intent hides the real problem.
Catalog hygiene is also an SEO risk. Removing or merging product pages without checking which URLs earn rankings can cost visibility. I now treat any catalog cleanup as a planned migration with redirects and a traffic check first.
The table shows the main workstreams for a manufacturer.
| Area | What I check | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Product pages | Spec table, standards, MOQ, lead time, RFQ button | Matches buyer searches and filters tyre-kickers |
| Category structure | Product families, filters, internal links | Passes ranking power to product pages |
| Market targeting | Country-level Search Console data, hreflang if needed | Shows whether you reach buyers or researchers |
| Trust signals | Certificates, company details, factory proof | Buyers verify suppliers before enquiring |
| Catalog changes | Redirect map and traffic check before removing pages | Prevents self-inflicted ranking loss |
Five parts. Each produces a deliverable.
Match each product line to the buyer terms in the countries you want, and drop terms that bring only sourcing agents.
Rewrite pages with specs, standards, MOQ, packaging and an RFQ path. Add product schema where it fits.
Speed, crawl, indexation, duplicate variants and broken links across a large catalog.
Company, certification and factory pages that let a buyer verify you.
Answer-first sections, FAQ markup and clean crawl access so answer engines can cite your pages.
Buyers now ask AI tools for supplier shortlists and compare standards before they email anyone. Pages with clear specs, named standards and a verifiable company behind them are easier to cite.
I also set up llms.txt and clean markup as part of AI-search work. These are low-cost and not proven ranking factors, so I treat them as extras, not the plan.

Technical and product page fixes can show within months. A large catalog takes longer. I do not promise a date.
The published case study reports 16 to 22 combined form and WhatsApp inquiries in six months, up from about one every three to four months, with roughly half from export markets. These figures are client-reported.
Yes. A catalog cleanup done without a traffic check cut clicks by about a third in one month, and a similar gap recurred later. The case study documents it.
